The Europe Lecture is a frequently recurring lecture on the significance of Europe from a socio-economic, political or cultural perspective. This year’s theme of the Europe Lecture is ‘Protecting cultural heritage in times of conflict’.

China’s prestigious Tsinghua University (Beijing) has offered Leiden University two scholarships for their new Summer School Program. Undergraduate students from all faculties are eligible.
During the past 10 years schools and universities have been used for military purposes in at least 34 countries in the world, often in situations of armed conflict. Occupying a school can turn it into a legitimate military target, and usually makes the safe continuation of education for children impossible. The right to education means little if students cannot safely attend school, but that is the reality for many children living in conflict zones worldwide.
The 6th and 7th Edition of the Young Diplomats Forum will take place in London (July) and Zagreb (September) this year. Young Diplomats Forum is a global gathering of aspiring and young diplomats below the age of 35. Previous editions took place in Turkey, Mexico, Greece and the United Kingdom.
